Drift Dives @ Tonaki Island – with “Marine Diving”

Today, we took B-Flap out to Tonaki Island!

We had a famous Japanese writer / dive instructor who has been working with a  ”Marine Diving” magazine for a long time.
Naoji took him out to the cool drift dive sites around Tonaki and a great dive spot called Ugan in Keramas.

Pygmy Seahorse in Zampa Diving – Okinawa West Coast

Akira got a nice shot of a Pygmy Seahorse, diving our favorite Zampa area.
Zampa area has huge stunning drop offs and caves – the seascapes creates mild currents, which develop many sea fans and good environment for having some pygmy seahorses.

The average depth diving here tends to be deep – Nitrox tanks come in handy, especially for cave lovers and photographers.

Bolo Point, Nagahama, Mishiragi… Zampa Diving (Okinawa West Coast)

Today, we had good dives at Zampa area.

With the strong wind from South, we chose to dive the Zampa area, because it’s all protected from the wind, has a variety of dive site just like Kerama Islands, and have dynamic seascapes.

***Today’s Okinawa Diving Information**
Zampa (Okinawa West Coast)

1. Bolo Point
2. Nagahama
3. Mishiragi

(See the Okinawa Dive Site Map)

Objective: Boat Dives
Weather: Strong South Wind
Air: 30C (86F)
Water: 28C (82F)
Visibility: 20m+ (70ft.)
Suits: 3mm / 5mm one piece

Bolo Point is our favorite – we just dove the same dive site last weekend, but depending on where we anchor the boat, this dive spot has totally different view.
Swimthrus, caves, and drop-off.
Lots of colorful fish. Fire dartfish, Octopus….
Saori found a cute Leaf Fish over there as well.

I think these caves are better than Blue Cave at Maeda.
We had very good visibility too.

Nagahama, we found some cool nudibranch, banded coral shrimps, and lots of anemonefish.

For these dives, as both maximum depth and average depth get deeper than other dive sites, it’s nice to dive with Enriched Air (Nitrox).

We enjoyed very good diving in the Kerama Islands as always.

The visibility was fantastic!
The pinnacle at the corner of Chishi has many many fish, including Yellow-spotted Chromis, Butterfly Fish… and Anthies.

Enjoyed the swimthrus, dynamic landscapes around the pinnacle.

At Kamigu, I took Hiroe and Toshi to take a look at Skelton Shrimps.
They are soooo small, but very fun to watch.

Okinawa Dives – Oyama, 225, and Inanbishi

Hi everyone,

Today is the last day of Golden Week!
We took our new boat, B-Flap for our original local dive sites today.

We had DDT team with Takeshi leading the dives and Miho’s brother’s team on B-Flap.

B-Flap is smaller compared to SWIFT, but it’s big enough to have 10 divers with a comfortable space on the deck and the upper deck. Even the big german guy, Andreas fit in our bathroom and the cabin! (That was funny when Takashi asked Andreas to see if the bathroom is big enough for him…)

Okinawa West Coast Dives

1. Oyama (Ginowan)
2. Marina 225 (Kadena)
3. Inanbishi (Kadena)

Objective: Boat Fun Dives
Air: 25C (77F)
Water: 23C (73.4F)
Visibility: 15m (50ft.)
Suits: 3mm – 5mm one piece + hood

Today, we had John’s 400 dives and Ken & Eri’s wedding dives.
They just got married in the end of April and had nice beautiful wedding ceremony.

The first dive, we enjoyed the beautiful coral reef just off shore from Ginowan area.
DDT team had a drift dive today- one at 225 exploring the wreck and reef. The third dive was at my favorite dive site, Inanbishi.
Miho’s team just had relaxing dive at around the sandy area looking for gobies and jawfish. Then, we saw a pair of Sea Moth (or Little Dragonfish) walking there. Very interesting.
Still, we have lots of nudibranches and Oranghtan Crabs over there as well.

The maximum depth of the dives were not so deep, but the average was little deep – for that kind of day, Nitrox comes very handy, to extend your bottom time and have safer dives especially when you are flying the day after.

Thank Wolfgang, John, and Andreas for spending your dive vacation here with us! Let’s do more dives next time you come – probably not Golden Week.
Ken & Eri – conglatulation for your wedding! You guys are so cute together, I’m proud of both of you – very nice that you guys can share good times underwater too!

Nozaki is our favorite! – Kerama Islands Boat Dive

Hello it’s Miho here.
It was another beautiful day in the golden week. We had so much fun in the sun!

***Today’s Okinawa Dive Site Info***
Kerama Islands

1. Nozaki (Tokashiki Island)
2. Toma (Zamami Island)
3. Sand Triangle (Gishippu Island)

Objective: Boat Fun Dives
Air: 25C (77F)
Water: 23C (73.4F)
Visibility: 30m (100ft.)
Suits: 3mm – 5mm one piece + hood

Nozaki had some current – which made all the small fish swimming around beautifully.
We saw some cuttle fish at the Sand Triangle, which was a big highlight of the dive of the day.
As always, the DDT team used Nitrox (EANx 32%) today as well, for all the three dives they had.

Today was the last day of diving for Matt and Jenny. Thank you two of you for coming out diving with us!
I think it was my first time diving with a girl from Greece!

Happy Diving

Caves and Turtles in the Kerama Islands

Hi everyone,

We enjoyed another good day of diving in the Kerama Islands.

***Today’s Okinawa Dive Site Info***
Kerama Islands

1. Yurigahama (Zamami Island)
2. Chishi (Zamami Island)
3. Kamigu (Gishippu Island)

Objective: Boat Fun Dives
Air: 25C (77F)
Water: 23C (73.4F)
Visibility: 30m (100ft.)
Suits: 3mm – 5mm one piece + hood

We enjoyed lots of swim thrus, especially the Blue Cave of Chishi. The coral reef at Yurigahama is beautiful and healthy as always. That provides home for lots of fish and sharks.

The divers we had during the golden week were diving at least 3 days, and some of them were diving 5 days.

Just a day of diving is not enough to get most out of Okinawa Diving experience here, more than a couple of days would be good.

When you are diving multiple days, Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) is good for you for safer diving.

05/01/2010

We started offering Nitrox (EANx 32%) tanks in Okinawa!

Hi Everyone, it’s Miho

I finally got some time to update our dive logs from the Golden Wek.

During the golden week, we had Wolfgang, John, and Andreas team from Tokyo, Jenny from Greece, and Matt from Chiba.

Objective: Boat Fun Dives
Air: 25C (77F)
Water: 23C (73.4F)
Visibility: 30m (100ft.)
Suits: 3mm – 5mm one piece + hood

The weather is getting warm here, the water temperature as well.
We enjoyed the beautiful coral reef at the Coral Garden, swam with some green sea turtles at the Tamana Farm.

As the third dive of the day, we went diving the Kuroshima West.
I hadn’t dove the site for quite a bit- mayby two years. It was lots of fun! Sea fans, fusiliers, many many fish and some nudibranchs.

The three experienced divers from Tokyo usually dive with DDT (Discovery Divers Tokyo).
This time, they were the first ones at Bluefield to use Enricher Air Tanks (Nitrox EANx 32%) .

We are very happy and proud to announce that we can offer Nitrox diving in Okinawa, finally!!
